Terms of Use

1. Purpose

FiloConvert (the "Service") is a free file conversion tool (documents, spreadsheets, images, PDFs) that runs entirely in the browser of the person using it, without transmitting file content to a server. These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Service.

2. Technical Description of the Service

On first access, the Service loads a set of JavaScript libraries needed for conversions. This is the only network communication triggered by using the Service; the content of files added, converted, or downloaded is never transmitted to the publisher or to any third party. The Service does not create a user account and keeps no record of processed files after the tab is closed.

3. Permitted Use

You agree to use the Service only to convert files for which you hold the necessary rights (ownership, license, or authorization), and not to use it to process illegal, infringing, defamatory content, or content that violates a third party's rights. You are solely responsible for the content of the files you process with the Service and for the compliance of that use with applicable laws.

It is prohibited to attempt to disrupt the operation of the Service, to extract its source code for resale without authorization, or to use automated means likely to overload the hosting infrastructure.

4. No Warranty on Conversion Results

The Service relies on third-party conversion libraries that offer reasonable, but not perfect, fidelity to the original file, particularly for complex layouts (columns, nested tables, specific fonts). The Service is provided "as is," without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We recommend you always check the converted file before using it for a sensitive purpose (an official submission, a contract, an academic assignment, etc.).

5. Service Availability

The publisher strives to keep the Service accessible but does not guarantee continuous availability. The Service may be interrupted for maintenance, or become temporarily unavailable in the event of a hosting outage or an outage of a third-party content delivery network that the conversion libraries depend on.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the publisher cannot be held liable for direct or indirect damages resulting from the use or inability to use the Service, including any loss of data, profits, or business interruption, except in the case of gross or intentional fault on its part.

If you use the Service as a consumer, this limitation does not restrict any right or remedy that the consumer protection law of your province of residence guarantees to you as a matter of mandatory law (for example, Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, or the equivalent in another Canadian province); it applies only to the extent permitted by law.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, its interface, and its content (excluding third-party open-source-licensed libraries) are protected by copyright. Any unauthorized reproduction is prohibited. You retain full rights over the files you process with the Service.

8. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated at any time to reflect changes to the Service or to applicable regulations. The version in effect is the one published on this page, along with its last-updated date.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the federal laws of Canada and by the laws of the province where the publisher operates. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the Canadian courts competent according to the publisher's place of operation, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply in your favor depending on your place of residence.
